As a result of a traffic stop conducted by members of the Goldsboro/Wayne County REACT Team the following charges were filed against Brian Clayton McCormick on January 6th, 2018.

BRIEF NARRATIVE: On January 6, 2018 the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office joined division forces once again to conduct Regional Enforcement and Crime Targeting Team (REACT Team) operations. While patrolling the northern area, West Grantham Street, of Goldsboro NC the task force conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle equipment violation. During the traffic stop encounter the driver portrayed signs beyond normal nervous behavior and while completing electronic citations for the equipment violations Officers requested a K—9 Unit to respond. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Shorty” and his handler arrived on scene and conducted an open air sniff on the vehicle. K-9 Shorty gave multiple positive alerts for the presence of narcotics being within the vehicle giving the REACT Team access to search the vehicle and occupants by probable cause. While searching the vehicle, deputies located Methamphetamine and drug related Paraphernalia within the vehicle. Based on the items located within the vehicle, Brian McCormick was arrested on scene, transported to the Magistrates Office, charged for the above listed charges and also issued electronic citations for the vehicle equipment violations. McCormick was then left in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center under $ 1,500.00 secured bond. Thus making this incident a contributor to another successful operation as a direct result of Team Effort focusing on response to violent crimes in the City of Goldsboro and Wayne County.
